From the beginning, one of our main goals has been providing health care and covering medical expenses for our students and families in need. Since health-related subjects are extremely personal, however, we have chosen never to post about these projects.
Kid is 27 years old and works as a machine operator at one of Cambodia’s biggest steel and aluminum companies. After losing his father, Kid grew up in an orphanage, because his mother was too sick to properly take care of him as a child. After years of struggling with HIV, her condition had gotten temporarily better, which led to the pair reconnecting and leading a very close relationship.
Unfortunately, Kid’s mother’s health has been drastically deteriorating throughout the past year due to liver cancer, leading to Kid being faced with countless medical bills for various hospital stays and treatments. Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support immediately stepped in to support the family with the coverage of all health-related costs necessary. While we sadly cannot heal Kid’s mother’s condition, it is important to us to help her as much as we can in her final days, while also preventing Kid from getting into medical debt.
