While Cambodia remains one of the poorest countries in the world, with 1 out of 5 inhabitants living below the national poverty line, which is defined as living on less than 2,5$ a day, the country has shown rapid progress and development throughout the past decade. Modern technology like smartphones and internet access has found its way even rural areas, and Cambodia’s education system has undergone several adjustments accordingly.
Just like in other countries in the world, university students are now required to own a computer so that they can work on assignments, prepare PowerPoint presentations, do their own research on a variety of topics, attend online lessons or online workshops, and eventually write their thesis.
A laptop, however, is a major investment, that none of our students can afford. We at Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support are committed to supporting and empowering all of our students on their path to an educated future and therefore happily cover all and any expenses in order to achieve these goals.
We have already been able to support many of our students through the donation of a laptop, bringing them a big step closer to obtaining their Bachelor’s degrees in a wide range of majors, such as Accounting, Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Law.
