Starting English School Early On

Munikota is a 12-year-old girl who lives in a rural area in Kampot province with her single father. Due to health conditions, her father is unable to work full-time and the family thereby struggles with a reliable source of income. This affects Munikota’s educational progress, as her father cannot cover additional tuition fees for extracurricular classes, such as English lessons.

Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support helped enroll the motivated student in a local English language school, called the Vision School, in order to encourage the 12-year-old to gain foreign language skills early on. We wholeheartedly believe that early language school enrollment ignites a deep passion for learning in young students like Munikota and ultimately opens doors for various future career paths, as English language skills have become a crucial requirement for employment in Cambodia’s labor market.
