The Covid-19 pandemic has been difficult to weather for many of us, and so was the case for Srey Mao. In the midst of her first pregnancy, Srey Mao and her husband both lost their jobs in a very sudden and life-altering manner. The couple went from having a safety net for their blooming family to struggling to make ends meet.
The young couple turned to CYS for support during this crisis. With your support, we were able to cover the medical costs for Srey Mao associated with maintaining a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Additionally, due to our continued belief in investing in long-term solutions, we also provided the couple with small farm animals, including chickens and ducks. With this investment, the happy couple is able to re-establish financial security for their small family.

Hello!
My name is Srey Mao and I am 21 years old. Now I have one daughter. Her name is Rachana. She was born on February 11th.
I would like to take a moment to say thank you to Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support for helping me during my pregnancy. My husband and I didn’t have jobs, so this situation was very difficult for us. We didn’t have any money to support ourselves, let alone were we able to afford visits to the hospital to check on our baby.
I am so deeply grateful that all of you helped me so that we could do checkups and have a safe birth at a hospital.
And I would also like to say thank you for continuing your support, even after baby Rachana was born. We were in need of supplies for our newborn, and we really want to make sure that she stays healthy. Now both of us are strong. It makes me so incredibly happy to see her face.
The chickens and ducks, that you provided for us, are also getting bigger and are having chicks and ducklings. This is wonderful because we can sell the offspring and have an income. Our dream is to save up enough money to buy a cow. It is a great job for us to stay at home and take care of our animals. We feed them and look after them so that we can sell them later on and make a profit off of that.
With a small farm like that, we are able to make enough money to support ourselves and raise our daughter.
