Our Impact on Vannara’s Family

Last year, we introduced you to the story of our student Vannara’s family. Vannara himself grew up separated from his mother in an orphanage but was able to reconnect with his remaining family members a few years ago. He soon came to learn that his estranged family, which includes his mother Pak, his younger sister Dany, his younger brother Ganya, and his nephew Reach, who became an orphan when he was just four years old, were living in extreme poverty without a roof over their heads, means to afford daily meals, or access to education. Malnourished and without any perspectives for a brighter future, Vannara, who himself struggled with unemployment for several years during the pandemic, reached out to us in a desperate call for help.

Needless to say, it became our mission to help Pak, Dany, Ganya, and Reach in every way needed. Over the past two years, the small family of four has benefited greatly from our support: We helped them build a small house in rural Kampot, providing them not only with a home but also a shelter to withstand Cambodia’s harsh weather conditions.

Furthermore, we provide them with food donations and financial support every single month. One of our main focuses was ensuring that Ganya, who was fourteen at the time, and Reach, at age 6, gain access to education. For the first time in his life, Ganya did not have to take up work to support the family, but was finally allowed to attend school and become literate. We provided both boys with bicycles, clothes, school supplies, and continue to cover additional costs, such as medical expenses, whenever needed.

Dear supporters,

On behalf of my family, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support over the past 2+ years. Your kindness and generosity have meant the world to us.

We are especially thankful for the food supplies that you provide every single month. Your support has been essential in helping to meet my family’s daily needs. I am also incredibly grateful, that our two boys, Ganya and Reach, are now able to attend school daily, as they would not be able to do that otherwise. This is really important for their development and their future.

All of your support has made a significant difference in my family’s life. We are truly blessed to have such caring and supportive people out there in the world.

Thank you again for everything,
Sincerely,
Vannara
