A New Student on His Journey to Becoming an Electrical Engineer

With no father in the picture, and a mother unable to care for her children due to serious health challenges, Sokchea and his three brothers were moved to a Cambodian children’s village in rural Kampong Cham at an early age. There, they found a safe and supportive environment While this provided them with a caring environment and were able to attend public school through high school graduation. However, once that point was reached, they were once again left with no support.

Even though Sokchea had always dreamed of studying in university, he had to join the workforce instead, as he had no financial resources and had to ensure his daily survival. This changed when Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support stepped in. Thanks to your donations, we are now able to support Sokchea on his educational journey and supported his university enrollment last October.

Learn more about his story in his own words below:

Thanks to your support, I can now study a Bachelor’s Program in Electrical Engineering. My hobby is to learn more about how to technical and electrical improvements for homes and buildings. And my goal is to improve my knowledge and my skills in this subject a lot, so that I can possibly have my own business in the future. A few weeks ago, I already took the exam of my 1st semester. I am very excited to start my second semester soon.

I’m very excited that this NGO supports me with studying in university. Through studying, I am getting closer to reaching my future goals.

At the end, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the supporters and sponsors of this NGO for helping me. I wish all of you the best for your lives.
