Access to Virtual University for Chamnan and Gung

At the beginning of the year, the COVID19 pandemic continued to affect students around the globe, which caused many schools and universities in Cambodia to remain closed. Gung and Chamnan are two psychology students at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, who have spent most of the three years of their Bachelor’s program studying virtually.

Since Gung and Chamnan are underprivileged students, both of their phones were second-hand, and were already worn down and broken. For example, Gung’s phone’s battery lasted for only an hour before shutting down, and Chamnan’s phone screen was entirely cracked and barely attached to the rest of the gadget.

In order to ensure both students’ educational success and participation in their university’s online lessons, Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support supplied them with new smartphones. This way, they can attend school and complete their online exams without any technical issues interrupting their studies.
