Voeng’s University Enrollment

After graduating high school in 2019, Voeng, who is an orphan, felt the need to join the workforce right away in order to earn money and be able to provide for himself.  However, throughout the following three years, he soon realized that it was becoming increasingly challenging to find a stable job with a reliable income in Cambodia without a degree.

After losing his job at a small Khmer carpentry firm yet again in 2022, we were able to encourage Voeng to enroll in a university in order to pursue higher education. This will not only give him the opportunity to further his knowledge and abilities in the field that he feels the most passionate about but will also enable him to apply for secure high-pay jobs in the future.

Dear supporters.

My name is Voeng Ly. I was born in a rural area in Kampot province in Cambodia. I’m an only child and my parents passed away a very, very long time.

Now I am happy to tell you that I am a student at PPI, the Preah Kossomak Polytechnic Institute in Phnom Penh. I’m getting an associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering. On top of that, I enrolled in a second program which is a 6-month course in Air Conditioning. Once I finish this subject, I will be able to find a part-time job until I graduate from university. This will make my situation a lot better.

I would like to thank you for supporting me, buying school supplies for me, and providing for me every month. Thanks to your support I believe that I will have a good life in the future.

All the best,
Voeng
