Dina’s Cosmetology Course Graduation

Since reporting on single mother Dina and her daughter Zana more than a year ago, a lot has happened. Thomlang – Cambodian Youth Support encouraged Dina to enroll in cosmetology classes at a rural beauty salon to obtain a form of education, that will enable her to find work and, eventually, financial independence. In order to enable her to attend daily classes, we had to find a daycare for then 2,5-year-old daughter Zana. We have been covering her kindergarten tuition and school supplies ever since and have been providing Dina with all of the equipment and tools that she needs to become a certified makeup artist.

We are very happy to announce that Dina has officially completed her courses in cosmetology, hairdressing and beauty, nail art, and permanent makeup. Upon graduation, she was rewarded with an official certificate, which she will now be able to use to find work in this field.

Dear supporters of Cambodian Youth Support,

My name is Dina. Today, I would like to tell you about my progress.
First, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for doing so much for me and my daughter. Thanks to your support, I completed all my courses in makeup, hairstyling, nail art, and permanent makeup. Each of these courses took about two months to complete. Now I already got a certificate from my teacher. I really like my skill.

Right now, I started a job at a salon where I can continue to gain experience. I currently don’t get a set salary, but I get 35% of the owner’s revenue. So, I will work here for a while to improve my skills.

I would also like to tell you about my daughter. This month, Zana turned four years old! She is so happy when she is at kindergarten. She has fun with her friends there and the educational environment at this school is great for her. I’m so happy to see her grow up so joyfully.

Once again, I would thank you so much for your kindness to support us. You truly have beautiful hearts.

I wish all of you good luck, health, and all the best.

With love,
Dina

Until Dina’s salary increases, CYS will continue to support the small family and secure Zana’s education. It will still take a while until she is fully financially independent, but we are getting closer to our goal one step at a time.
